Assignment 2

DEPTH OF FIELD & APERTURE

SCENE ONE

Set 1: Focus on the front figure

f1.8 (1/50s ISO 200)

f1.8 (1/125s ISO 200)

f16 (1/2s ISO 200)

Set 2: Focus on the middle figure

f1.8 (1/30s ISO 200)

f8 (1/2s ISO 200)

f16 (1/2s ISO 200)

Set 3: Focus on the back figure

f1.8 (1/30s ISO 200)

f8 (1/2s ISO 200)

f16 (1/2s ISO 200)

REFLECTION

This was a challenging assignment for me as I'm still learning how to find a balance between aperture, shutter speed and ISO. I prefer the second image in Set 1 because it highlights the first spice jars clearly but doesn't mute out the other objects in the photo. You are still able to see what is in the background but the highlight is clearly on the first spice jar.

SCENE TWO

f1.8 (1/1250s ISO 200)

f8 (1/60s ISO 200)

f16 (1/15s ISO 200)

REFLECTION

I prefer the first image with a narrow depth of field to help highlight the subject. However, I probably should have dropped the ISO to 100 to avoid the overexposure.
